Dear Allstate Claims Team,

I would like to request that my claim #0769431347 be reopened.

On September 19, 2024, I accidentally backed my 2021 Volvo S60 into a stone wall, causing damage to the rear quarter panel on the passenger side.

The claim was filed, and I took my vehicle to Caliber Collision in Milford, CT on September 24, 2024 for repairs.

After approximately a month, I picked up my car on October 25, 2024.

Upon inspection, I immediately noted several issues:

Concerns with the fit and lack of repairs in the rear / trunk area

Damage to the rubber seal on the passenger-side rear window

  Two dents in the roof.

The general manager was unavailable at the time, and I scheduled an appointment to return the next day to discuss these matters.

At that time, I expressed that the trunk area appeared to have sustained damage during the initial accident, which was not addressed during the repair.

A follow-up appointment was scheduled to fix the dents and address my concerns about the trunk area and rear window seal. I dropped off the car on October 31, 2024, and picked it up again on November 1, 2024.

Here’s what was done:

  The roof dents were repaired.

The rubber seal around the rear window was replaced but not attached, it was just placed.

The trunk striker was adjusted but did not resolve the issue with the movement of the rear end from the accident.

During this visit, I pointed out misalignment issues in the rear of the car, particularly in the trunk and quarter panel. While the damaged outer quarter panel and wheel were repaired, additional damage caused by the impact—particularly the misalignment of the trunk and quarter panel—remains unaddressed.

You can see the separation on the trunk in photo 3 prior to repairs.

Remaining Issues:

Trunk / Quarter Panel Misalignment:

The rear corner impact caused about a 1/8″ shift of the quarter panel and trunk to the passenger side, resulting in misalignment.

The right side of the trunk sits higher than the quarter panel. The quarter panel is shifted to the left as visible looking at the gap.

The rubber stop on the bottom of the trunk has shifted 1/8″ from inside the trim piece from the movement of the quarter panel

The trunk striker no longer aligns correctly, requiring excessive force to close the trunk.

Photos and videos clearly show the height difference between the right side of the trunk and the quarter panel. The evidence suggests that the right rear quarter panel was pushed inward and downward by the initial impact, but this misalignment was not corrected during the repairs.

Rear Window Installation: Though a minor issue, it still requires attention:

When repairing the quarter panel, the rear glass was removed and not reinstalled properly.

The rubber seal on the lower right side of the rear window was damaged, and a new piece of rubber was added, but it was not glued or sealed in place. It is simply stuck on.

Along the bottom of the window, the rubber is visibly protruding. While it may be sealed, this issue is unsightly and needs to be corrected.

I have attached photos and videos to further clarify the remaining issues.

after  bringing this issue to the attention of the general manager multiple times, he stated he’s done and I have to bring it up with Allstate.  As far as I’m concerned this company has dropped the ball and did not do a full inspection of my car when I brought it to them

Please let me know the next steps to reopen this claim and address these unresolved concerns.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Marc Jaffe
